After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from New York University, Dr. Frank Lu attended Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Besides many honors and distinctions received during his dental education, he graduated number one from his dental class in 1999, receiving the Alpha Omega award, and he was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) honorary dental society. After his dental training, Dr. Lu served in the U.S. Navy Dental Corp as a dental officer and attained the rank of Lieutenant. The Navy took him to Atsugi, Japan for 3 years where he served the 7th fleet in Japan, Korea and Guam. He received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his outstanding military service and performance. Dr. Lu practiced general dentistry for a few years and attained the esteemed Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) in 2003. He was one of only 5% of American dentists that has achieved this honor by completing over 600 hours of continuing education and passing a rigorous 6 hour written examination. Dr. Lu also earned the honored Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologist (FICOI) in 2004. Dr. Lu was then offered a post-doctoral position for a 3-year advanced training in orthodontics at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, where he received both a certificate in orthodontics and a Master of Science (MS) degree. During his orthodontic training, he actively participated in research and was one of the selective few who completed the internationally renowned Tweed Course at the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation for Orthodontics.

Having been in practice for over 16 years, Dr. Lu feels that it is extremely important to remain in the forefront of technological advancements in orthodontics. Therefore, he spends numerous hours in orthodontic continuing education courses and meetings each year in order to offer his patients the best possible treatment. Dr. Lu not only emphasizes quality orthodontics, but he also gives the most personal and attentive care to his patients. He takes time to listen to his patient's needs and is always willing to accommodate their needs. Therefore, there is no surprise that all his patients enjoy coming to their monthly visits.

Dr. Lu is very active in community service organizations and is a member of several prestigious organizations such as the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and New York State Dental Association. Dr. Lu received the "America's Top Dentist" award from the Consumer's Research Council of America in 2010 for his dedication to the profession of orthodontics. Dr. Lu was recognized as a leading top dentist by the International Association of Dentists in 2012.
